Visiting in the winter months brings several opportunities to catch other sporting events as well. The Seattle Seahawks football team, Seattle Storm basketball team and the Seattle Mariners baseball team all call this city their home.
Stars On Ice
Olympic ice skating stars from around the world perform in this ice skating show held each year in Seattle. USA medalists Sasha Cohen, Evan Lyacek and Canadian World Champion Kurt Browning perform on the tour along with visiting performers. 2011 begins the 25th season of the tour. The show has a different theme each year. The costumes are colorful and as sparkling as the ice itself. After the show spectators are invited to meet some of the performers and get a chance to purchase merchandise. Seattle’s Sky Key Arena hosts the event in the Seattle Center along with myriad other sporting events. It is also the home of the Seattle Storm basketball team.
Seattle Skating Club
The Seattle Skating Club performs several times per year in special professional standard competitions and community events around Seattle. These events are fun for the whole family and showcase local talent in bright, sparkling costumes and dazzling skating jumps. The training facility offers a wide range of ice skating and figure skating activities and events. Take lessons here and take part in the Olympic level coaching and motivation available. Members of the United States Figure Stating League, they also offer figure skating testing and certifications several times per year. Ice skating enthusiasts from all over the country visit here to take part is instrumental lessons and information.
Highland Ice Arena
Ice skaters who enjoy indoor play often find themselves at the Highland Ice Arena. Public skating and fundraising shows are regular activities at this facility. Receive lessons from the professional staff of figure skaters or schedule a party or anniversary at the arena. Ice Hockey is a regular event here as well. The on-site pro shop makes skate purchases, rentals, sharpening and other supplies convenient. The array of skating supplies is fully encompassed. Local clubs and ice skating tour companies perform each year complete with costumes, choreography and audience participation skits. Past performances include the Blades on Ice performance by the Everett Figure Skating Club.
